A smaller file, page by page.
Choose how hard to squeeze. Every page is drawn again at a lower resolution and rebuilt into a new document. It is built for scans of paper, where the page is already a photograph and there is no text to lose.
Each page is redrawn in this tab at a lower resolution. Built for scans of paper, where the page is already a picture.
- The pages become pictures — after a run the text is no longer selectable or searchable. That is the trade that makes the file smaller
- A born-digital document often comes out no smaller, and sometimes larger. When the rebuild does not help, nothing is saved and the result says so
- Fonts, links, bookmarks and form fields do not survive the rebuild
- Every page is redrawn in this tab, one at a time, so a very long document takes a while
