From a fixed page to plain Markdown.
The text layer is read page by page and rebuilt into headings, bullets, numbered lists and paragraphs. Useful for notes, documentation and anything you want to paste into a model that would rather have Markdown than a PDF.
The characters already in the file are regrouped into headings, lists and paragraphs. A scanned page has none, and this tool will say so rather than invent them.
- It reads characters the file already contains: a scanned page with no text layer comes out empty and is listed as such
- Heading levels are inferred from font size relative to the page median — a good guess, not a guarantee
- Tables and multi-column layouts arrive as running text; this cannot rebuild a table as a table
- The first 300 pages are converted and the rest are reported as skipped
